Video production

How is MCM different?

  • MCM is not like other video production companies.
  • As social scientists and consultants, we have never set out to 'make videos'. We set out to solve problems for our clients, to meet your objectives.
  • For most video production companies, the end product is a video. At MCM we never forget that for the client, a video is a means to an end.
  • This is why our videos get the results our clients want.

PR / Communications objectives

An Australian consortium of major beer and spirits companies wanted to demonstrate the industry's commitment to responsible service of alcohol.

The aims were to improve the image of the industry in the eyes of government and other influential authorities, and to promote responsible service on the 'front line'.

MCM produced a 20-minute drama-documentary video, No Worries!, featuring some of Australia's most successful and responsible licensees.

Result: The video was not merely well received by government authorities: it was launched by the Australian Health Minister, and distributed to every licensee in the country.

Training objectives

Rank Leisure wanted to improve the interaction and communication skills of door security staff. MCM produced a comprehensive training package for night-club managers to train their own door staff, with a 'trigger' video including advice from highly skilled doormen, and police demonstrations of safe restraint techniques.

Result: The MCM training package is now used in all Rank night-clubs, and has been made available to independent night-club operators across the country. The training package is endorsed and recommended by the Police.

The Portman Group - the UK drinks industry watchdog - wanted to help off-licensees and small shopkeepers handle the difficult situations involved in alcohol retailing. MCM produced a 25-minute video, Seeing Off Trouble, combining dramatisation of typical conflict scenarios with commentary from a psychologist, experienced shopkeepers and the police.

Result: Within a few weeks of the launch, over 3000 independent shopkeepers had ordered copies of the video, which received highly favourable reviews throughout the trade press. Although the video was aimed at small independents without access to big-company training programmes, a major off-licence chain also ordered 1000 copies.

Information objectives

The Brewer's Society were worried about the increase in drug use and dealing in pubs.

Their aim was to give publicans and staff the information they needed to prevent drug dealing and use, and to handle difficult situations involving users and dealers.

MCM produced a 25-minute video, Drugs and Pubs, which included interviews with real-life drug dealers about the tricks they use to avoid detection; advice from publicans who had successfully 'cleaned up' drug-ridden pubs; and a detailed drug-squad demonstration.

Result: Drugs and Pubs is our client's best-selling information video. It has been highly acclaimed within the trade, and is endorsed and recommended by the Police.
